This week, the REUSE project was in Rhodes, Greece for the PRES’ 26 – the 29th Conference on Process Integration, Modelling and Optimisation for Energy Saving and Pollution Reduction.
As part of the conference, a dedicated session brought together REUSE partners to present the results achieved so far through the project’s testing and modelling activities, highlighting ongoing progress towards more efficient CO₂ capture, utilisation and conversion solutions.
Key topics and contributions included:
- Project overview: An introduction to REUSE and its research on enzymatic CO₂ capture in a rotating packed bed and electrocatalytic CO₂ reduction into useful products.
- Solven selection and process modelling: Insights into the evaluation and modelling of different approaches to CO₂ capture.
- Biomass gasification and combustion: CFD-based optimisation of processes aimed at high purity CO₂ production.
- Pilot-scale testing: Evaluation of aqueous AMP and KOH solvents for CO₂ capture in a rotating packed bed at CERTH’s pilot plant in Thessaloniki, including comparisons with MEA.
You may find a series of open-access publications related to the aforementioned activities on REUSE project’s Zenodo page here.
The session provided an opportunity to share technical findings, exchange knowledge with the wider research community, and discuss the progress of REUSE project in advancing innovative approaches to CO₂ capture and utilisation.
We thank all project partners and conference participants for their support and active engagements to the discussion!
